Democrat=Socialist: 22% Of Americans Say States Should Have The Right To Secede

  • Pete · 1 year ago
Uhhh, guess what ? Texas already has that right & can do it at any time. It routinely comes up for vote in the legislature & never get's a 100% vote. We joined the union by peace treaty since we were our own country beforehand. Other states have that right as well.
Remember, our forefathers wanted "The People" to have the rights, not the ruling elite.

If Texas ever breaks off, I'm moving to Texas...

The South WILL rise again... and y'all thought we were kidding!
  • Buffoon · 1 year ago
    Hi Cody,
    I appreciate your metaphor :)

But I don't think this poll is asking if you agree with an "uprising" LOL

Personally I just think that as adults we can acknowledge we have reached a point in society that there is no chance of a compromise.

I am sickened by the liberalism that is destroying our republic....
  • Bob · 1 year ago
The liberalism destroying our republic.....so laughable. What's destroying our republic these days is the fascists in office who care more about lining their pockets via oil, defense and energy industry than protecting the rights and values of We the People.
  • damien hunter · 1 year ago
I don't think this is ideological divide, but rather a general distaste for being under the auspices of our current Federal government. I'm not talking just the White House, but the whole system of it.
  • Al · 1 year ago
States used to have the right to secede until they actually went and did it. When Lincoln put the country back together, the Feds trumped the State's rights, and secession went out the window- even the Treaty of 1845, the one that had The Republic Of Texas join the US, was voided.

But, when it's time to start shooting at them damned smelly hippies, I'm there!

I was going to write about this very issue. You beat me to it. Good job.
  • Buffoon · 1 year ago
Please do, that way we could get another perspective, I was just more or less passing along my own opinion...
  • Kedge · 1 year ago
You'll note here that both the Liberal East and the Conservative South were both slightly higher in favor of allowing peaceful secession.

I fail to see where "well armed rednecks" and the spreading of "liberal ideas" to said members of society would apply to this story.

The Middlebury Institute holds North American Secession Conventions every now and then, which has included delegations from The League of the South, The Republic of Texas, and many others. In fact, they found it ironic how much they agreed on the issue of secession despite their differences in beliefs, they felt that each state should be permitted to fully implement those beliefs locally.

Where's the conflict here? These liberals wouldn't mind the devolution of issues to the states if it meant more power for their own local beliefs. This includes notions such as legislation of biblical law, segregation, abortion, etc which normally divide conservative and liberal. These people just want to live in their own fashion, on both sides.
  • Buffoon · 1 year ago
    Kedge,
The last blurb is simply an echo of common sentiment in some areas where liberalism is being "forced" into peoples lives, homes, schools, families etc... Many of us are just downright sick of it. Government doesn't know whats best for my family, I do.

And I don't think there is a conflict here, I honestly wish that we could let liberals do what they want and conservatives live how they want.
  • Matt · 1 year ago
The poll question is badly phrased: "I believe any state or region has the right ..." You can legitimately believe that they SHOULD have that right, or you can believe that they DO have that right, as the question asks. The former is a valid ideological statement, the later just shows a lack of education as it is patently false, regardless of what those polled think.

Perhaps the skewed responses just demonstrate lack of education? Most adults 18-24 aren't old enough to have finished college (if they've attended) and Hispanics and African Americans are on average less well educated than Whites (I said less well educated, not inherntly inferior).
  • natis · 1 year ago
Oh please. I can't even imagine where to begin to comment on your unbelievable level of stupidity.

And stop using the term "liberal" like it's a bad thing. Liberal thoughts and beliefs have a valid place in this country just as much as conservative thoughts and beliefs. It was very "liberal" to offer blacks, women and non-land owners the right to vote. Republican, Democrat, liberal and conservative has all become nothing than terms thrown around without much thought being given to the meanings.

Lastly, if you're a true American, you'd accept those that don't believe in god just as much as people that may believe in other things.
  • Buffoon · 1 year ago
    Natis,
My problem with liberalism is via the courts, your beliefs, (gay marriage, homo agenda in schools taught to children, open borders, federally funded abortion, appeasement, disarmament, etc., all bunched together with the stench of communism) is what bothers me and the majority of Americans.

I feel you can do whatever you want, just don't force it on me and my family... hence the appeal of secession....
  • Reason · 1 year ago
    Buffoon,
I think the majority of Americans prefer to not have someone else's view forced upon them. Which is why allowing the government to make laws which removes the rights of others seems a bit hypocritical. Legally forcing someone to not be able to marry someone they love, or that they can't make a decision regarding their own body seems more like the government is forcing views on individuals.
Fearing communism and liberalism is a fear of change. It is easy to say that you don't want the government to approve of such things when you are in a position of privilege. Laws should not be made to protect the majority. I always thought America was supposed to support those who had no voice.
If this country is losing that ability, that would make secession a lot more appealing.
  • Vulcan · 1 year ago
Fear of change is usually a bad thing, but change for change's sake is foolish. Why should we throw away what works just because you're getting tired of the way things are?

That said, I favor less government interference-in all aspects-so gay marriage is fine with me.
  • natis · 1 year ago
First, don't use the term "your beliefs" as you can't speak for me as you don't know my personal beliefs. Most of them may shock you to be honest.

If you're against gay marriage, don't marry someone of your own gender.
If you think there is a homo agenda being taught to your children, take them out of that school.
If you feel our borders are too wide open, petition to put a halt to visas and join the Minutemen.

And I could go on. It all ultimately comes down to this: none of this is being forced on you and your family if there is a choice and it's clearly evident that there are choices.

Also, you don't speak for the majority of Americans nor does anyone else on this site. To even claim such a thing is utter ignorance and egotism.

I think seeing the country separate would be a truly fascinating experience. If you want to do something as basic and boring as just saying "red states here, blue states over there", I would love to see the economic and trading impacts it would have. Would the red states not trade with the blue states on a matter of principle? How would the blue states adapt to not having direct access to America's breadbasket? Would the blue states see a dramatic rise in the quality of life given that any taxes gathered would not have to go to the red states? Would people from the red states migrate to the blue states to perform menial jobs? And so on.

The fact that 43% of hispanics believe states have the right to secede from the union should be disturbing to the public. Hispanics are the fastest growing segment of the population and are now in the majority in some areas, this should be cause for concern. Will future hispanic/latino majorities in the Southwest attempt to secede after they achieve demographic superiority? Personally, I don't believe secession by any state is very likely. Our country is united by common economic links that would make disruption very expensive. Additionally, there is too much demographic mobility for regionalistic sentiments to become too strong. People do not identify as strongly with their home states as in the past.

...??? peacefully, yea right, maybe THEY (sucede-ing party) are peaceful, but dude that can only be seen as an "agressive stance agenst". Has anybody tried to reason with/ask an officer NOT to handcuff them until they are bieng charged? ANYBODY? this is usually seen as "agressive action agenst an officer", you could get tackeled and beat up, have your arms ripped around like the gang-bangers, and trailer-park hicks on COPS.

what i'm saying is, this can only be seen as negative to any authority figure, who is then trianed to agressively neutralize the situation. then the "peaceful" get pissed (rightfully so) and retalliate then it's just discredited as criminals fighting the law.

We need a REAL revolution, we need to limit the powers of our government to make them entirely transparent, elections must cease to be popularity contests, our laws/rules need to focus on liberating personal rights/freedoms with no tolerance for "leeching"/"bleeding" the system alowing those unfit to take care of themselves to fade and die. we need a leader who has no affiliation with any one group/religion/belief.

    REVOLUTION IS MY NAME!!!!!!

We should devide and do it peacfully before there is any anger. Like a bad relationship we should recognize this and act in both our best intrest before it's done out of anger. If you have ever been in a bad relationship but you got out of it you realize...Why did I wait so long to do that? We could maintain our Heritage, but devide to allow for suttle different's West and East. Still the USA but with modern allowances for change.

Let the right wing Bible Belt go its own way and cease telling progressive people what we can watch on TV and on-line. Let them start their own wars and bury their own sons and daughters, and being the useful idiots of the corporate elite. I will even help pay to get them started as an independent monarchy. They can have their own Constitution minus a 1st and 4th Amendment if they like. Good Riddance ! Take King George W and Prince Dick Cheney with them.
  • Vulcan · 1 year ago
"The useful idiots of the corporate elite"? Don't tell me educated people still believe in a corporate elite.

Now, I do agree that no religious group should be allowed ot tell us what we can and cannot view, whether on TV or on the Internet.

But your remarks about King George W and Prince Dick Cheney were rather offensive and more than a little ridiculous. If ever there was a President who could be termed that, it would have to be FDR for staying more than two terms.
  • Jebus · 1 year ago
Intersesting....you find posters comments about taking Bush and Cheney with them as offensive? Do you find it equally offensive that Bush and Cheney and most of that administration are war criminals for starting an illegal and unjust war and condone torture?
  • Buffoon · 1 year ago
Jebus do you know how tired that whole, "illegal and unjustice" war crap is?

How did you escape the Kos?

La Raza WILL succeed in seceding as our numbers grow daily.

    Aztlan will arise.

La Raza people strong and our babies many and we will push the Euros back to their caves across the Atlantic Ocean

    Power to LA RAZA
  • mixer · 1 year ago
    More like,

Mexicans will eventually breed so much with whites that a new mixed race will just settle down everywhere.

And the mixed race will just become the "new white", and nothing will change at all.

    The End
